About me
Kate V. CristKate V. Crist is a dedicated educator who has spent over two decades focused on improving literacy outcomes for secondary students. She currently serves as the Director of Education 4500, where she supports teachers and leaders in designing and implementing equitable literacy instruction at scale. Her work involves providing professional learning and strategic support to schools and districts across the country. Additionally, she sits on the steering committee for the Project for Adolescent Literacy.In her prior roles, Kate served as a Senior Literacy Designer at Student Achievement Partners, creating tools, resources, and professional learning opportunities for K–12 educators. Her extensive background includes experience as an instructional coach, high school program coordinator, professional learning institute director, and high school classroom teacher. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with leading education organizations such as StandardsWork, the UCB History-Social Studies Project, Achieve, UnboundEd, the Literacy Design Collaborative, the Knowledge Matters Campaign, EdReports, and SchoolKit.Kate earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of San Francisco and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz. In her personal life, she enjoys spending time in the beautiful wilderness of the Eastern Sierras with her husband and two children.
