Melody Ilk is a prominent National Literacy Consultant and the lead author of LETRS for Administrators. With a career spanning decades, she has served in nearly every facet of the educational system—including roles as a classroom teacher, special educator, interventionist, instructional coach, and school improvement consultant. Her extensive background in Title I settings informs her practical, results-oriented approach to school reform.
As the founder of Literacy Transformations, LLC, Melody Ilk specializes in the design and implementation of scientifically based literacy systems. She is recognized for her ability to build robust instructional infrastructures that prioritize data analysis, differentiated tiers of instruction, and shared leadership. An approved consultant for the state of Colorado, she partners with districts and state agencies to lead school improvement frameworks that deliver measurable gains in student achievement across all tiers of support.
Melody is a veteran facilitator of the LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) program, having been involved since its inception. In addition to her work on LETRS for Administrators, she is the co-author and national trainer for A Principal’s Primer for Raising Reading Achievement. Her work is dedicated to equipping superintendents, principals, and teachers with the sustainable, research-aligned practices necessary to close achievement gaps and foster lifelong literacy.
